The Module-Building Project started in September 2002 and was
intended to develop a generic citizen-voter education module that
will cover broad aspects of the political and electoral system,
human rights and governance and will be used for information and
education campaign among citizen-voters.
On October 21 and November 21, 2002 workshop sessions with a pool
of resource persons from pre-identified clusters have been conducted
in connection with developing of the generic module. The pool was
composed of leaders from grassroots organization; entities/organizations
working and advocating for and with particular focus on citizen
and voter education; human rights experts; democracy experts; module-building
experts; and communication/information-education experts. Results
from the workshop and other data gathering activities
This generic citizen-voter education module formed basis for another
initiative at coming up with specialized modules for sectoral concerns
and interests. Another series of workshop sessions was held on December
17-18, 2002 and on February 3-4, 2003. Five sectors: disabled; elderly;
labor; peasants; and youth and students, were gathered and formed
into workshop groups during the first session. The other session
gave way to five other sectors identified: fisherfolk; indigenous
peoples; Moro; urban poor; and women. |
